i used to buy records to compare different musicians playing the same piece of music. i also bought rare records of Kreisler playing his own works (Liebesleid, Liebesfreud, Caprice Viennois...), and Rachmaninov performing his own piano concerto #2. it's a thrill listening to these legends play.
