Had been to Berkeley in winter time before. But when I went there to visit a friend in spring 1975, I was shocked by the size of all its flowers. Same kind of flowers elsewhere aren't 1/3 the size of those found in Berkeley, which has an ideal climate because of ocean currents. People are like those flowers. Given ideal environment and conditions to develop their hidden potential, what turn out could exceed one's wildest expectation. But never try to make an artist out of a mechanic or vice versa. That'll be like growing water plants in a desert. The result would be disappointing no matter how hard one tries. 10 years later in North Borneo tropical jungle, I saw a rare Rafflesia, world's largest flower. Rafflesia has no stems, leaves or true roots, with only one gigantic flower that could be as big as 100 cm in diameter and weighing up to 10 kg.
